LOS(v)ERS BY ROBERTO TEDESCO PREMIERES AT TEATRO ARIOSTO IN REGGIO EMILIA FOR FESTIVAL APERTO
After creative residencies at MMCDC and the Parktheater in Iserlohn (thanks to the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne), Los(v)ers by Roberto Tedesco, associate artist of the company, will have its world premiere on Sunday, October 19, at Teatro Ariosto in Reggio Emilia, as part of Festival Aperto.
Freely inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the new creation explores the theme of Hikikomori, a Japanese term meaning “to stay apart.” Today, it is used to describe those—particularly young people between the ages of 14 and 30—who choose to withdraw from social life for long periods, sometimes years, avoiding any direct contact with the outside world.
The evening’s program will also feature Weirdo, a choreography by Enrico Morelli, resident choreographer of the company, who brings to the stage the universal theme of feeling inadequate and out of place—transforming into dance the state of alienation born from the weight of expectations and the fear of judgment.
Born in Calabria in 1992, he trained with Balletto di Toscana and danced with Junior BdT, later joining Aterballetto, where he performed for ten years. In Germany, he has choreographed for the National Theater Mannheim, Theater Vorpommern, and Staatsoper Hannover. In Italy, he has been selected twice for Vetrina Giovane Danza d’Autore and has participated in the Residance XL and SupportER programs. He was a finalist in DNA appunti coreografici and took part in both Open Studios and the NID Platform programming. He has created works for Aterballetto, MM Contemporary Dance Company, and Opus Ballet.
He received the Danza&Danza Award as Emerging Choreographer 2023 and the International Dance Award “Città di Foligno” as Revelation Choreographer 2024. With his project LOS(v)ERS for MM Contemporary Dance Company, of which he is an associate artist for the 2025–2027 triennium, he is among the winners of the SIAE Per Chi Crea grant.
