Emanuele Soavi

In 1997 he had guest engagements at the Theatre in Bari and the Teatro La Fenice – Balletto di Venezia with Giuseppe Carbone. In 1998 he moved to Germany and worked at the Dortmund Ballet. In 2001 he became a member of the internationally operating Dutch company Introdans for five years, where he worked together with some of the most famous choreographers of our time: Jiri Kylian, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe, Nils Christe, Renato Zanella, Nacho Duato, Karole Armitage, Mats Ek.

Since 2006 Emanuele Soavi has been working as freelance choreographer for companies, e.g. Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München‘, Theater Dortmund, Theater Aachen, Stadttheater Regensburg, Introdans (NL), ARTEz Dance Academy Arnheim (NL), MMcompany und AGORA Project Reggio Emilia (IT). He has been invited as guest coach and in the context of choreography workshops to Cologne, Osnabrück, Turin, Milan, Rome, Lecce and Valencia. Until 2011 he was a member of movingtheatre.de Cologne and created collectively 12 feature-length productions, partly even international co-productions, receiving invitations to European dance festivals, e.g. Bolzano Danza, Mittelfest Cividale, Festival Shakespeare Mataró, Festival Tantarantana Barcelona, Schrittmacher Festival Aachen, Tanzwoche Dresden, Odeon Tanz Wien, Internationales Tanzfestival Kassel, Solotanzfestival Bonn. Those productions have been nominated for the ‘Kölner Tanzpreis’ (Cologne Dance Award) several times; in 2009, Site Specific won this award. In 2011 Soavi was the first dancer ever to receive the ‘Kölner Darstellerpreis’ (Cologne Award for Best Performer).

In 2012 he founded his own label Emanuele Soavi Incompany. In 2013, after having performed the first production - the solo BlackBirdBoy, he created his myth project including the youth dance project METAMORPHOSIS! individual collaborating with training schools for dance in Barcelona, Rotterdam and Reggio Emilia.
